The Kashmir and Kashmiriyat

"Sitting in Delhi, you guys will not understand what we are going through" this is something the most common answer you would hear if you ask any "Kashmiri" about current situation. Apparently if you ask a visiting non Kashmiri / Jammu people about this, their common reply is that everything is sponsored and staged.

To understand the issues of Kashmir what is essential is to stop and go back to 1947 - 48 and 1989. Take a look first at incidents of 1947-48. Once we got independence, we realised that it's not a country that got independence but a part of land and 557 princely states that got liberated from British crown. The biggest of the issues was making them realise that British left India as a whole and not individual states. And hence have to be together as a country rather than Princely states.
Taking the case of J&K, when things were getting worse, Patel thought once of leaving this state for Pakistan. But it was Seikh Abdulla and Nehru who thought of giving more time on this to resolve the issue. The then King Hari Singh had suggested following 4 options to resolve the issue :-

1. A general plebiscite to decide which citizenship is better for the people of J&K between the two dominions
2. State to be an independent entity with the security responsibilities to lies with both the dominions
3. A partition of state with Muslim habitat to go to Pakistan and the Hindu - Sikh part of the land to be with India
4. The India loving population and their land to be with India and those who don't should be part of Pakistan

When Lord Mountbatten suggested to take J&K case to UN, Sir Zafrullah Khan represented Pak in UN who happen to be one gifted orator had successfully proved the point that the intruders though were Pakistani but they came to India to save Muslims and was an obvious consequence of the tragic riots across Northern India in 1946-47.
This was one big mistake done by Nehru to take the issue to UN.
When the influx of Pak Intruders increased, Hari Singh asked India to help fighting with them and protecting J&K. Nehru was ready for that. Then only Mountbatten suggested to close the deal first of being the part of India. This is how we got our control on this princely state. This was one strategic failure of the diplomats of Pakistan. Though this Kashmir issue hasn't had standing on the next few years in Pakistan politics since it was more engrossed with the challenges of being a new country.

For next few decades, Pakistan kept herself engaged with poverty issue, Islamism and its milking, East Pakistan, Baluchistan etc and were hardly having any time to look upon making Kashmir their part. The maximum they did was supporting China in intruding India and the weak leadership or perhaps the leadership without much vision were indirectly supporting Pakistan in their endeavour. The India's leadership courage was one that in the subsequent decades made Pakistan believe that it now is much easy to enter into Indians life and in turn India to make them weak philosophically. The started intruding Kashmir taking advantage of Article 370 and the political willingness of India in abolishing this article. They started making relationship with Kashmiri boys and Girl. This was a part of the strategy made by ISI in early 90's.
Now when we complain about Kashmiri hoisting Paki flag and stone pelting by students, we should understand that they are the product of that social intrusion. Again the issue of Pak support is restricted only to 4-5 places that are the frontier districts. Most importantly, the sleeper cell of ISI is not only among the citizens of India, but also are there in the political and intellectual fraternity of India.
So to burst the nexus and issues of Kashmir, nothing much would be achieved by gunning down the stone pelting crowd. They are designed that way and Pak took time to design them this way. What is important is to break this sleeper cells in the political and intellectual class of India that is giving fuel to the fire of Kashmir issue. And not to forget, doing more works on the ground to actively connect with these so called "Pathbhrast Yuva Kashmiri".
