It was an adventure trip to the Sea from Ricky’s school. All
were very excited to see the flora and fauna of the sea. The teacher took all
the children to the sea in a bus. All were singing, clapping, dancing in the
bus. All were very happy and excited for the trip ahead.
Here it is. They reached the beach. It was quite a clean
white beach. This was a bright sunny morning. The sun was making everything
shine a little more, or perhaps it was the happiness of the kids that was
making everything glitter more.
Teacher made queue of all the kids. They had to board a small
ferry boat. They had to reach to a nearby island and take an undersea walking.
They finally reached the island called “Grand Island”. Teacher put them in a
semi-circle. An instructor was at giving instruction to these kids on do’s and
don’ts while doing the undersea walking.
All kids were now aware of things to take care of while doing
the undersea walking. Every kid was given an oxygen cylinder that they had to
carry on their back and a glass bowl that was big enough to wear over their
head. Ricky worn that and was feeling like an astronaut. He started doing
moonwalk steps. Everyone started laughing seeing him dancing.
The instructor asked them to ensure holding the rope that
were tied over everyone’s waist. Ricky was at the extreme end of the rope. At
the other end was the instructor. They all were taken to shallow water and were
slowly going down inside the water with the help of an aluminum ladder, fixed
with a platform from where they were going down. Everyone was excited to get
inside the sea.
Finally, all the 10 kids of their batch were inside and can
put their leg on the bottom of the sea. It was around 10 feet deep from the
surface. There they can see lots of tiny colorful fishes swimming in small -
small groups. They were trying to touch them but can’t. They were appearing
quite closer but when they were extending their hands to touch, it seemed it’s
a little far off. They can see sea anemones, star fish, small octopus and what
not. There were lots of small plants inside with colorful leaves and flower.
All the kids were mesmerized. They all were walking like robots as if they have
lost in the scenic beauty of the place.
Ricky was also trying to touch them but was a little feared
as well. He suddenly turned back and was shocked to see no one was there. He
was perhaps lost, and everyone left to reach the surface. Oh god, now what to
do?
Ricky was though a kid but had a great sense of overcoming
the challenges. He always was keeping himself calm when facing any challenge.
This time was no exception to this. He hasn’t lost it to think anything. He was
standing there thinking what to do next. Suddenly he heard a small noise. He
followed the direction from where he heard the noise. He kept walking. He was
careful while walking not to step any creature. He was still following the
direction from where he was hearing the noise. The sound was getting little
louder while he was nearing the place.
He stood near a cave opening of a small sea mountain. It
seemed the noise was coming from inside. Ricky gathered all his courage to
enter inside. He was walking. A direct ray of sun was coming there from the
perforated top of the cave. He reached to a room that was having a wire mess
gate. The noise was coming from there.
He was surprised to see a lot of small fishes were there
inside the room and the wire mess gate of the room was locked from outside.
“Hey, how did you get into the room.” He tried communicating
these fishes from the wire mess gate.
All the fishes suddenly started hurdling at the gate. One
fish said, “Hello, we had been kept inside this room by an Octopus called “Octa
Leg”. He is very cruel. He always comes to our colony, tells us the story of a
place full of food of our choice and lots to play and takes us from there to
here and lock us in this room. His Starfish friend, “Centi Teeth” helps him in
this.”
“Oh, but what they do with you then?” Ricky was surprised to
see this.
“They eat us. We are really feared of the situation. Please
help us get released from this jail.” All fish started pleading Ricky.
“But it is locked. How can I help you getting away from
here?” Ricky persuaded.
“The Octa Leg keeps the key in his mouth. You need to take
that out from his mouth.” One of the fish told Ricky.
Ricky asked, “where is Centi Teeth and Octa Leg?”
“They must have gone to our colony.”
“Ok, where is your colony? Let me see if I can help you all.”
Ricky gave them assurance.
They told Ricky the direction where their colony is. Ricky
walked towards their colony. He saw few tiny fishes playing here and there in
an open place. They were running behind each other, sometimes hiding behind
some sea fern or small stones lying at the bottom of the sea. He reached them.
Seeing Ricky, these tiny fishes started running. Ricky shouted, “Don’t be
feared of me. I am here to help you all. Few of your friends are in captive of
Centi Teeth and Octa Leg. If you hear me, I can save you as well as save your
friends.” Hearing him, all the tiny fishes hurdled Ricky.
Then Ricky suggested the plan to them. These tiny fishes
rushed to the sea fern and pluck some spikes from these sea plants and hide
them below their fins. They now started playing as if nothing has happened. Ricky
hide behind one of the big rocks lying at the bottom of the sea.
After few moments, he saw a big Star Fish coming there. It
was Centi Teeth. He came near tiny fishes and told them, “Hey kids, what are
you playing?”
“Hide and Seek.” Without seeing Starfish, one of the tiny
fish told.
“Umm Ok, but here there is no place to hide. You must not be
enjoying. I know a place where there is a sea mountain and lots of fern. You
will get lot many places to hide and enjoying the game. Besides, there is a
place near the mountain where you can get lot many insects to eat. And they are
really delicious.” The Centi Teeth tried deluding them.
“Oh wow, can you take us there? We will enjoy playing there.”
One of the fish pleaded.
“Yes, why not! Come follow me.” And the Centi teeth smiled
wickedly seeing them so easily coming into their trap.
All the tiny fishes started swimming behind the Starfish. The
Star Fish was in hurry to reach the place. He wanted to eat them all at once.
Here they go. They reached the sea mountain. Seeing the place, all the tiny
fishes got surprised. It indeed was a beautiful mountain with lot many small
holes. A perfect place to play hide and seek. Centi Teeth told them to play and
said to be going to catch some insects for them for their lunch.
All the tiny fishes nodded.
These tiny fishes started playing Hide and Seek where all but
one fish was finding place to hide while one was counting.
Tiny fishes had a plan with Ricky. So, they were hiding in a
group of 8 in each hiding place.
Suddenly one group was surprised and feared to see a huge
Octopus near them. It was Octa Leg. He was grinning seeing so much a delicious
tiny fish. He holds each of the 8 tiny fishes with his 8 limbs. Now was the
time to act as per the plan made by Ricky. Each tiny fish took the spike out of
their fins and prick it into the limb of the huge Octopus. It all happened at
once when all the 8 fishes prick the spike on his 8 limbs.
“Ouch, what is that.” Octa Leg wasn’t prepared for this. It
hurt him a lot and he shouted out of pain. All the remaining fishes came out of
the hide and pricked the Octa Leg with their spikes. It was so painful that he
opened his mouth wide to cry. At that point in time, the wire mess gate key
fell from his mouth. Ricky ran towards Octa Leg and picked the key.
Ricky was following them when they were guarded to this place
by Centi Teeth and hide behind a rock a little far off from the Sea Mountain.
Seeing so many tiny fishes attacking Octa Leg, the Centi
Teeth ran away from there. Octa Leg got a chance of fleeing from there. All the
tiny fishes cheered each other for this winning. They were happy to execute the
plan with precision. They all ran towards the room where rest of their friends
were locked. Ricky was leading them. Ricky opened the lock with the key and
freed all the tiny fishes.
Hurray. All were free now. They all cheered Ricky. Ricky had
high five with all the tiny fishes. It was a winning moment for them, and they
didn’t forget to celebrate. Everywhere there were giggle and happy faces.
One of the tiny fish came to Ricky and said, “Oh Ricky, thank
you so much for helping us overcome this big trouble. We will always be obliged
of you. You are like god for us. We will help you reach on the sea surface.
Come, follow us.” And all the fishes started swimming in upward direction.
Ricky was following them.
In a while they all were at the top. Ricky swim to the “Grand Island” after seeing off all the tiny fishes. There everyone was waiting for Ricky. And Ricky was having a wonderful story to tell them all.
